Born in Glendale, California, Adrian Saxe studied at the Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles from 1965 to 1969 and earned a B.F.A. degree at California Institute of the Arts, Valencia, in 1974. Saxe has made pottery since the early 1970’s. When he began exhibiting in France in the 1980’s, and was an artist in residence for six-months at the Manufacture national de Sevres, his work was characterized by the French as sculpture whose subject was pottery.
