Albert Beck Wenzell was born in Detroit, Michigan to a wealthy family in 1864 and later received solid academic art education during seven years in Munich under Stahuber and Loefftz and in Paris at the Académie Julien under Gustave Boulanger and Jules Lefebvre.. He created numerous illustrations for short stories and also illustrated many serialized novels that were published in 1896 and 1900.
