Painter, printmaker. Leaving his boyhood home in Texas, Hogue began his formal art education at the College of Art and Design in Minneapolis. Hogue (1898-1984) was born in Missouri and studied briefly at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design (1919) before moving to Dallas for employment as an illustrator at the Dallas Morning News. He took up painting in the 1930s and soon developed a loyal following for his Southwestern and Midwestern landscapes of the Dust Bowl era.
