Dec 24, 2013 · Certainly for the younger Angry Penguins, Nolan, Boyd and Joy Hester, Vassilieff provided the missing link in Australian art history. He lived in rural Warrandyte until 1954, painting whenever he could, gardening, fishing and teaching the rest of the time. I wrote at length about Yosl Bergner some years ago.
