Antonio Berni, (born May 14, 1905, Rosario, Arg.—died Oct. 13, 1981, Buenos Aires), Argentine artist known for his socially committed art. Berni had his first exhibition when still a teenager and received a scholarship to study painting in Europe in 1925. After visiting Madrid he settled in Paris, where he studied with the painters André Lhote and Othon Friesz.

Antonio Berni was born in the city of Rosario, Argentina in 1905. In 1914 he entered the Buxadera y Cía stained glass workshop as an apprentice. There he received the teachings of its founder N.
