"Le jugement de Dieu" was Lefebvre 's winning entry in the Paris Conservatoire's Prix de Rome. With the prize Lefebvre was able to travel to Greece, Italy and Asia. He returned to Paris in 1873 and was awarded to Prix Chartier twice in 1884 and 1891 and became the professor of ensemble at the Conservatoire in 1895.
