Frank Okada, (1931-2000), was born in Seattle. Okada received his B.F.A. from Cranbrook Academy in 1957 and taught at the University of Oregon, retiring in 1999. He was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship in 1967, a Fulbright Fellowship in 1959 and a Whitney Fellowship in 1957. He had numerous solo and group exhibitions between 1970 and 1997.
