Arthur Hensel was a Canadian guitar builder from the 1920’s through 1940’s. His guitars were usually made for Toronto based R.S. Williams & Co., and although not well known are well-built instruments. This one is a parlor guitar, neck attached at the 12th fret, and currently set up as a lap steel.

Apr 26, 2006 · Arthur Hensel changed his name to Hansell (possibly a misprint for Hansel) around 1936 when he was listed in the Toronto directory as a "violin maker" at 149 Mutual. Previously he was listed as Hensel, either an "instrument maker" or initially, in 1933, as a "violin maker." Does this make 1936 the cut-of date for Hensel instruments?

Nov 27, 2007 · From what I have gathered on the net Arthur Hensel was a small time builder in Toronto Canada during the 30's and 40's. His guitars were made from all solid woods, (Adironack tops, brazilian boards and bridges, mahogany sides and backs). He is willing to part with his for $150.00. It needs a neck reset to make it playable.

The guitar was made in the thirties by the luthier Arthur Hensel for the company R.S. Williams. The guitar is playable, has a beautiful vintage tone due to the solid woods and Rio fingerboard. The bridge, nut and tuners are not original.

Aug 11, 2015 · As a Canadian builder, Hensel's guitars have really not garnered much attention in the vintage guitar world; but that's a good thing in our books - and Hensel branded instruments continue to fall on the affordable side of the price spectrum. This one, like most Hensels, is an X-braced 12 fretter, built of solid Canadian Spruce and Maple.
