Catherine was born June 24, 1949, in Indianapolis, Indiana, the daughter of Arthur and Eunice (Bracewell) Fluckey. She graduated from Columbus High School in 1967 and from Ball State University with a B.S. in Art Education. She did graduate work at Indiana University.
