Marie-Antoinette Marcotte was born in Troyes, France on May 31, 1869. She was a painter of gardens, landscapes, flowers and genre scenes. When she was very young, she moved with her parents to Brussels, Belgium. In 1891, she started to study at the Brussels Academy of Fine Arts under the tutelage of the master teacher and artist, J. Portaels.
