Aug 26, 2013 · In the early 80s John Peers was living in San Francisco. He would sell his paintings in bars (mostly clowns) but some other extraordinary pieces and he would drink the profits. I only ever saw him wear a set of coveralls. He was probably in his 60s at the time. My family owned a restaurant bar that he frequented and we all have several Peers paintings.

I have two clown paintings signed Peers. They are of either Emmett Kelly or Red Skelton in clown makeup. They are at least 40 years old and were the property of a man who worked as a clown; so he probably knew which ever person the paintings represent. I really think they are of Kelly. Have you uncovered any further information?
