Artist Point is the place we always take visitors from out of town, since we are fortunate to live nearby. The majestic Mount Baker is gorgeous throughout the year, although we typically visit in spring, summer and fall. A beautiful place to hike, walk, or simply have a picnic.5/5(25)

The road to Artist Point is a short, 2.7-mile-long stretch of highway at the very east end of Mount Baker Highway, State Route 542, in Whatcom County. It's located above the Mt. Baker Ski Area lodges. Mount Baker Highway begins at Interstate 5 in Bellingham and continues east 57.24 miles to its end point at the upper parking lot for Artist Point.

The hike from Bagley Lake, going on to the Chain Lakes and Artist Point, is probably the most stunning hike I've ever taken. It is long, though-- we saw people starting at the Chain Lakes, which we probably do next time. The water is this gorgeous, gorgeous, Lake Tahoe blue.5/5(25)

May 29, 2016 · To get to Artist Point you follow Route 542 (Mount Baker Highway) to its eastern end. From Seattle head north on I-5 to Bellingham and head east on 542. OR head north on I-5, take the North Cascades Highway (Hwy 20) East to Sedro-Woolley and then go north on Highway 9. about 20 miles north you will intersect Rte 542, head east, and there you go.
