Richard Marquis earned a B.A. degree in 1969 and an M.A. in 1971 at the University of California at Berkeley, where he studied glass and ceramics. Richard Marquis is known for Glass artist-teapots, craftsman. After studying both ceramics and glass in California in the mid 1960s, he gained early recognition with blown glass. In 1969, he had a Fulbright Scholarship to Murano, Italy and mastered the techniques of Venetian glass blowing and "murrine," the slicing of colored glass.
