OCARC was founded in 1995 in response to a request by the Cape Cod National Seashore to establish a residency program in one of its historic dune shacks at the edge of the Atlantic “back shore” in Provincetown. In the summer of 1995, OCARC was awarded the Margo-Gelb shack by the Seashore, with the first residencies being held in 1996.
The Provincetown Community Compact offers dune shack residency applications for C-Scape and Fowler Dune Shacks in the Cape Cod National Seashore for 2020. Residencies are available April through November for the general public (Community Residencies) as well as for artists, writers and community organizations.

The PPPC erected four trap sheds at the entrance to the MacMillan Pier and allows artists to rent these as studio space.This Program specifically addresses the needs of emerging artists in the arts and crafts community.
