Jun 13, 2019 · Most of the CD's show the album, artist, genre, year on Windows Media Player when the disc goes into the drive. About 1 in 20 would show Unknown album, artist, etc. Not a big problem. But Yesterday the new CD's I want to rip all show the info as Unknown - 100% of them. I checked the settings in Options and the settings appear to be correct for retrieving media info from the Internet, etc.

Mar 20, 2010 · Windows Media Player won't change "Unknown Artist". When Windows Media Player can't read a song's meta data correctly, it lists it under "Unknown Artist." When I right click the generic album picture and select "Find album info," a new window appears where I can enter the artist's correct name. However, changing the name from Unknown Artist to the correct name accomplishes nothing.

Jun 15, 2012 · The basic problem here is that iTunes use ID3v2.4 tags, Windows (and WMP) uses ID3v2.3 tags and can't read ID3v2.4. So if you update the tags with iTunes and then add those tracks to WMP they're going to show up as "Unknown Artist". This is always going to cause problems if you try to use both iTunes and WMP libraries at the same time.

Jun 12, 2016 · Groove Shows Unknown Artist & Unknown Album I've just installed Windows 10 and experimented with the Groove music player. It finds all the songs but they are tagged Unknown Artist and Unknown Album. The songs appear fine in iTunes with the correct details and album art.

It may be tedious, but supplying your media library with correct information will make things much more enjoyable in the long run.

Jun 19, 2020 · Your computer and Windows Media Player can read a lot of tag versions, so when you’re connected you can read the tags. But the Sansa, with its itty-bitty brain, can’t read every version. So when you’re just relying on the Sansa, it reads Unknown. With mp3 files, for instance, ID3v2.1 always comes up Unknown–it needs ID3v2 or ID3v3.
