No it's not. I don't make techno. I use it for various combinations of rock, dance, funk, ambient, electronic, noise. I think people equate Renoise with tracker, and equate trackers with character-base '80s software, and have little idea what Renoise can really do.

I'm fairly sure cEvin kEy of Skinny Puppy fame uses Renoise as one of many tools in his arsenal. He does. If you read his interview on the Elektron website, he mentions that he likes to chop up loops from the machinedrum in Renoise. Advanced audio software with a tracker interface.
