Arturo Mercado (August 26, 1938-June 21, 2015) was born and raised in Austin, Texas. He started painting Texas Hill Country landscapes and displaying his work at the G. Harvey Gallery, also known as the Shoal Creek Gallery. After becoming a full time artist in 1970, he began exhibiting his oil paintings in various galleries throughout Texas and Florida.
