A Nigerian-French singer/songwriter with a smoky voice, Asa ("ah-shah") combines elements of soul, pop, folk, and reggae, among other international influences, in her warm neo-soul songs. After emerging with a self-titled debut in 2007, she released Beautiful Imperfection in 2010, leading to a Victoires de la Musique nomination in France, where she regularly charts.

Born in Paris, France but raised in Alagbole in the south-west of Nigeria, Elemide began singing during her parents’ absences from the house where she would seek out her father’s records.
