For Owusu-Ansa, the 1840s and 1850s were good years as far as his commitment to Methodism and its progress in Ghana were concerned. Indeed he became an active promoter of that Christian denomination up to late December 1862. For much of the 1840s Owusu-Ansa served as a paid Methodist worker,–officially a catechist– in Asante.
