Athena Tacha was born in the provincial town of Larissa, Greece. She studied as a sculptor in Greece before moving to Paris, where she received the doctorate in aesthetics from the Sorbonne. Now teaching sculpture at Oberlin after serving as director of the Oberlin Art Museum, she has established a reputation for her public site works and memorials.
