Edit the information in the Windows Media Library as shown in the screenshot below - highlight and right click and you should get the 'edit' option for the relevant column.

Feb 23, 2012 · To clarify the responce above, MP3 files (and other media files) can contain various types of metadata (which hold things like the Artist, trackno etc). This data is 'inside' the mp3 file, and Windows reads it from the file directly.
