Audrey Mabee is an alumnus of The Alberta College of Art and Design in Calgary and has a colourful history with the art school. Audrey took Saturday-morning art classes as a child there, became the college's first Alumni President, served as a member of the Board of Governors and finally served as the Acting President in 1998 - 1999.

Audrey taught after-school art and evening classes for the City of Calgary for many years. She was the art teacher at Strathcona Boys School for nine years. In 1974, she and her business partner, Betty Anne Graves, opened The Croft — a boutique gallery that specialized primarily in Alberta pottery and handmade Canadian arts and crafts. Audrey smiles as she recounts memories of those first days.

Mabee's figurative paintings emanate from the artist's ever evolving repertoire of creative experiences, developing mid process rather than as concrete premeditated imagery. Influenced by great modern masters and consistently intrigued by negative space, Mabee selects subject matter and colour to spark elation and joy but also to inspire mindful examination.
