Conrad Botes was born in Ladysmith, Cape Province, South Africa, in 1969. He studied graphic design and illustration at the University of Stellenbosch. Here, he met Joe Dog, with whom he founded the magazine Bitterkomix in 1992. Together with Ryk Hattingh, he created 'Die Foster Bende', which was published in June, 2000.
