Painter and poet, born in Bangor, where she died. First wife of the artist John Petts, with whom she founded the Caseg Press. After a visit to Copenhagen in 1930, where she was much impressed by Gauguin’s early work, Chamberlain in 1931–6 studied at Royal Academy Schools, Ernest Jackson and Walter Westley Russell being among her teachers.

artist, poet and novelist Born in Bangor, Brenda Irene Chamberlain was a Welsh artist, poet and novelist. She wrote a memoir of the years she spent living on Bardsey Island and was winner of the first two Gold Medals awarded by the National Eisteddfod of Wales for Fine Art, in 1951 and 1953.
