In 1996, RGD became the self-regulatory, professional body for graphic designers in the province of Ontario. The Association grants graphic designers who qualify the right to the exclusive use of the designations Registered Graphic Designer and RGD and is the governing and disciplinary body for its members. RGD is the only graphic design association in Canada to have such legislation.
