Carl Ellis Fish Art. Carl still remembers fondly his first ever sticklebacks caught in the local canal as a boy growing up back in Liverpool. It sparked a lifelong interest in fish which has developed strongly over the years alongside his love of drawing. He will also admit that the real catalyst for his present work came about when he finally combined the two during his Masters degree.

I use a variety of wax and oil pastels in the same expressive manner as paint with generally a colour palette that can be held in one hand. With selected papers I’ll often apply the softer oil colours by using wax pastels, shaped erasers or fingers.
