Charles Henri Ford was born in 1908 in Hazlehurst, Mississippi. He was a poet, photographer, editor, film maker, painter, and graphic artist. In his early twenties, he started his first magazine, Blues, which was published in Columbus, Mississippi, where he was living. He helped introduce surrealism to America. He was the creator of View magazine. He died in 2002 at 94 in New York City.
