Charles G. Smith. I was born in the 1940’s and was raised in West Virginia through my undergraduate years. I moved to Louisiana to attend graduate school at LSU in 1967. While I have a career in Louisiana as a consulting geologist, art has always been a keen interest and an important part of my professional and daily life. Painting is filling more and more of my quality time in recent years.

Charles G. Smith. Charles G. Smith is particularly interested in representative, plein air painting because “being there” gives him his best chance of getting accurate light and color effects in scenes that catch his attention. Painting plein air also means the paintings are small format and are completed in a single setting. Smith tries to paint-out several times a week, year round.
