Chartist cave is a well known landmark high on the Llangynidr moors above Trefil. Below the upper entrance chamber is a large chamber with radiating passages that gives a clue to the size of cave that is still to be found under Mynydd Llangynidr. Length 440m Altitude 533m

The more commonly used modern name “Chartist Cave” dates from 1839 when Chartist reformers used the cave to stockpile weapons in advance of their march on Newport on 4th November of that year. There is a plaque at the entrance to the cave commemorating the actions of the Chartists.

The views range over the Welsh Industrial valleys and the Black Mountains as well as the Brecon Beacons. Pikes and possibly other weapons were secretly made and stockpiled in the Chartist Cave during the summer of 1839. They were subsequently carried by Tredegar Chartists on the great march on Newport on November 3rd - 5th 1839.

A huge mass meeting was held on Kersal Moor near Salford, Lancashire, on 24 September 1838 with speakers from all over the country.Speaking in favour of manhood suffrage, Joseph Rayner Stephens declared that Chartism was a "knife and fork, a bread and cheese question".

But Chartist.js is the product of a community that was disappointed about the abilities provided by other charting libraries. Of course there are hundreds of other great charting libraries but after using them there were always tweaks you would have wished for that were not included.
