About the Artist. Chris Robitaille was born in Toronto, Canada, and graduated from the Ontario College of Art where upon graduation, he was awarded the Will Davies Award for Excellence in Illustration. His work in Toronto as a story-board artist gave him a strong understanding of the importance of competent drawing and sound composition, elements that have been an integral part of his work over the years.

In addition to his oil paintings, Chris is also co-founder and owner of Xplorer Maps; an emerging business that renders hand-drawn antique-styled maps. It all began back in 1997 shortly after Chris Robitaille had moved from Toronto to Kenya to pursue his first love of painting landscapes and wildlife. Coincidentally, while living in Kenya, Chris was approached by a good friend and former classmate from the Ontario College of Art in Toronto to see if he was interested in illustrating an antiquarian styled map of Kenya.
