Aubrey was an itinerant artist who made the journey to Milford Sound in 1885, stopping and sketching various vantage points along the way. He eventually set up camp on the shores of Milford Sound. Works from this journey are held in the collection of Alexander Turnbull Library. Records show Aubrey returned to Milford Sound in 1905.
