Artist Biography: For nearly 25 years Colette Odya Smith has been pursuing her love affair with pastels, exploring ways to express the mystery and wonder she feels in the ‘school’ of nature. While staying grounded in realism, especially her passion for water imagery, she pushes her work to the edge of abstraction and creates purposeful ambiguities to allow space for the viewer to ponder with her.

She will be returning to France in fall of 2019 for the inaugural exhibit of the Salon du Pastel St. Brisson sur Loire. Currently living in Wauwatosa, Ms. Smith is a native of Milwaukee. She is known for her contemporary landscapes interpreted in a beautiful fusion of realism and abstraction.
