V/A collections (I'm fine with # of V/A > 3) seem to me to be inherently different than a compiled collection of tracks all by the same artist. Most "normal" humans, libraries, etc file compiled collections of the same artist WITH that artist. While V/A collections all go in the same place (usually AFTER all individual artists).

Sep 15, 2017 · All the albums have album artist = "Various Artists" and the "album is a compilation" checkbox is checked and yet some are in the right place and some are not. I've even have a double album where disc 1 is correctly showing under compilations and disc 2 is incorrectly showing under various artists. Strange behaviour.

My work process for an album with various artists is: put all tracks of the album in one folder. right click this folder and select MP3Tag. Then MP3 Tag opens. Select all the files in the right pane. Make sure that in the left pane the following tags are identical: Album, Albumartist (which should be "Various Artists" in this case), Year and Genre.
