David Fairbairn is an Australian contemporary Artist (painter and printmaker) who was the winner of the Dobell Prize for Drawing in 1999. He also won the Doug Moran National Portrait Prize in 2002. Fairbairn teaches at the National Art School in Sydney.

David Fairbairn was born in Zambia in 1949. He studied at the West Surrey College of Art and the Royal Academy Schools in London. He arrived in Australia in 1981 and in 1987 he moved to Wedderburn south west of Sydney. He has had many Solo exhibitions including a touring Survey show Lineage – Selected Portraits 1998-2010 hosted by Campbelltown Arts Centre in 2011/2012.
