David Gray currently lives right here in St Mawes, but he began his art training at Coventry College of Art and Design, studying Technical Illustration. His work reflects his earlier career as a Design Draughtsman - Illustrator, working mainly in engineering, and when he moved to the South West in 1970 into the boat construction industry. He now lives and paints in St Mawes, looking out over the same views as the St Mawes …

Born in Coventry in 1948, David studied Graphics and Technical Illustration at Coventry College of Art and Design. He went on to spend most of his life in the West Country, enjoying a long career as a Design Draughtsman – working in local Shipyards, constructing all types of Boats and Yachts, he has now settled in St Mawes dedicating himself full time to his art.
