Mar 10, 2020 · On November 9, 1931, David Leffel was born. The descendant of two immigrates from Minx, the capital and largest city of Belarus, Russia. His parents, Rachel and Murray, raised him in Williamsburg, a Jewish neighborhood, in Brooklyn, New York. At that time, they conversed in Yiddish until David reached the age of four.

Born in a middle-class Brooklyn, New York, neighborhood, David A. Leffel began drawing at about age 3. This continued through high school and then into the Parsons School of Design in New York City where he studied advertising design. On the advice of a friend, Leffel attended the Art Students League of New York, then entered the art world as a fledgling painter.
