The son of eminent Scottish painter Anne Redpath, Michie has successfully established himself as a talented artist in his own right. He was born on the South of France before his family returned to Scotland 1934. From 1946-53 he studied at Edinburgh College of Art (ECA), before teaching at Gray’s School of Art in Aberdeen from 1957-61.

David Michie OBE RSA was born at Saint-Raphaël in the south of France. His father, James Michie, was an architect and painter who had been an apprentice to Edwin Lutyens at the War Graves Commission, helping to lay out cemeteries in northern France after the First World War. His mother was the celebrated artist Anne Redpath OBE RSA.
