Inspired by anecdotal stories found in the Burnaby Archives about the area’s transition from forest to orchard, artist Devon Knowles applied the Sierpinski mathematical formula to make visible fractal patterns found in nature. Using unit pavers of dark and light grey, Knowles re-creates the formula as an abstraction of nature.
