Arthur Dial (b. 1930) Arthur Dial was born in rural Alabama. In 1940 he moved with his elder half-brother Thornton to Bessemer, Alabama. Dial spent most of his working life at a company called U.S. Pipe. The artist was inspired by the artistry of his older brother and began to create his own art out of materials familiar to him from his job.
