Stevan Dohanos made his mark as a nationally famous cover artist for The Saturday Evening Post and chronicler of Americana, but he began at the bottom. Stevan Dohanos (1907-1994) was a successful commercial artist active in the mid-20th Century. He attended the Cleveland School of Art and admired artists like Grant Wood and Edward Hopper. He illustrated over 125 covers for the Saturday Evening Post. In the 1960s he served as chairman of the Citizens' Stamp Advisory Committee.
