Don Jean-Louis was born in Hull, Quebec in 1937. A largely self-taught artist, he has been exhibiting in Canada and internationally since 1960, with his first solo show presented in 1961 at The Isaacs Gallery in Toronto. In 1978, he was named to the Royal Canadian Academy.
