Dorrit Dekk was born Dorothy Fuhrmann in Brno, in today’s Czech Republic. As a Jewish artist, she moved to London in the late 1930s to escape persecution by the Nazis and served as a radio intelligence officer. After the end of the Second World War, Dorrit worked as a government poster designer in the Central Office of Information.

Artworks Dorrit Epstein, née Fuhrmann, known professionally as Dorrit Dekk, was born in Brno, Czechoslovakia (now Czech Republic). As a child she moved to Austria and studied at the Kunstgewerbe Schule in Vienna, following the annexation of Austria Dekk moved to London to study at the Reimann School from 1938-39.
