DOUGLAS PURDON was born in Toronto, Canada and graduated from the Ontario College of Art (AOCA) and is a full-time painter in Toronto, Canada. His preferred medium is oil, but he also works in watercolor and acrylic. In 1998, he wrote the best seller Color Secrets For Glowing Oil Paintings, published by North Light publication.

Douglas Purdon an incredibly talented painter of rural Canadian landscapes, but also a gifted educator. A lifelong Toronto resident, he graduated from the Ontario College of Art (now OCAD) and now gives popular lectures and workshops at the University of Toronto, Loyalist College, and other private groups. He also is an educational and technical advisor for Winsor & Newton.

Canadian artist Douglas Purdon and I met a long time ago (in Internet years) when we were both members of the Artist's Forum on Compuserve. I had the good fortune to meet Doug in person at a NAMTA trade show in Toronto and to see his incredible oil paintings.
