The East Anglian Group of Marine Artists, was founded in 1979, when six amateur and professional marine painters met at the famous 'Butt and Oyster' pub at Pin Mill on the banks of the River Orwell at Chelmondiston, Suffolk. Inspired by the surroundings and a shared enthusiasm for depicting the maritime scene the East Anglian Group of Marine Artists was brought into being.

East Anglian Group of Marine Artists are a small group of professional and semi-professional artists with a shared enthusiasm for depicting marine subjects. Together with holding exhibitions the group also meet socially and take part in outdoor painting days several times a year, usually including one ‘afloat’ on members’ yachts, or often aboard a Thames Sailing Barge.
