About Ed King Artist Statement I started out doing sculptural work in college, both clay and wood work, and dove into print making, but then came to the conclusion I wanted to try my hand at being a serious “for real” painter.

Artist Biography by Bruce Eder. By rights, Ed King should have been a guitar hero twice over, as a key member of both Strawberry Alarm Clock and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Born in Glendale, California, King was attracted to the guitar at an early age, learning to play some Dick Dale -style surf music without a lot of style or success in the early '60s.

As a child he had an early introduction to art; every year his father would take him and his brother Gunning to Eastbourne where they would all go sketching.
