Edgar Britton was born in Kearney, Nebraska, and studied at the University of Iowa and at the University of Kansas. He worked with Grant Wood in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, from 1920–24, and moved to Chicago in 1925, working on various architectural commissions until 1935.
