Edward Dayes studied under William Pether, and exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1768 until his death in 1804. He is best known as a topographical watercolourist, and travelled extensively throughout Britain, and produced topographical and picturesque views which were then egraved by James Storer, T. Tagg, P. Audinet, F. Jukes and others.
