Edward Hagedorn (1902-1982) was a native of California although his place of birth is in dispute. Born in the San Francisco Bay Area, he remained in this region of Northern California. A painter and printmaker, Hagedorn began his artistic career at the age of sixteen and received formal training at the California School of Fine Art (now the San Francisco Art Institute).
