Ellen Tanner earned a BFA in Graphic Design at the University of North Texas in 1998 and worked as an illustrator and graphic designer at Fossil Watch Company for 5 years. In 2003 she moved to Austin and earned a degree in Art Education from the University of Texas.

Ellen Maidman-Tanner began drawing as a child, leading to a lifelong passion for the arts. She attended the Philadelphia College of Art and completed her BFA at York University, Toronto, in 1974. Her sculptures and installations were shown at the Center for Experimental Art and Communication and at A Space Gallery, as well as appearing in a number of juried exhibits.
Ellen Maidman-Tanner is a contemporary female artist making oil paintings of Icelandic landscapes, figure drawings, and oil portraits. Her unique pictorial emphasis and brushwork creates powerful, memorable portraits and images of Iceland, beautiful in any interior design.
