His work was shown at the Paris Salon in 1933-34. He exhibited with the Academy of Royal Canadian Artists from 1937 to 1948. Thirty-four of his miniature sea paintings portraying a typical trans-Atlantic convoy run during the Battle of the Atlantic were exhibited across Canada in 1950-52. AWARDS. Riordon was elected A.R.C.A. in 1946.

Having matured as an artist while in the Navy during World War II, Eric Riordon enjoyed only three years of production at the height of his ability. Following his discharge from the Navy he built a house on a hilltop in the Laurentians where he painted many of his finest works.

Riordon was born in St. Catharines, Ontario and moved with his family to Montreal in 1908. He received his formal education at Ashbury College and McGill University. His art training started with a year of charcoal drawing at Ecole des Beaux Arts then, in 1932, in Paris where he studied at the Grande Chaumière and Académie Julian.
